Longreach punches well above its weight for a town of 3,000 people. The two major museums — the Stockman's Hall of Fame and the Qantas Founders Museum — are genuinely excellent, and the Thomson River sunset cruise is one of the best outback experiences in Queensland. Allow at least a full day, ideally two.
