Ginger Baker

Ginger Baker is one of Bright's best-regarded cafes, occupying a heritage building on the main street and serving breakfast and lunch with an emphasis on produce from the Ovens and King valleys. The menu changes with the season — stone fruit in summer, game and root vegetables in autumn — and the baking is notably good.

The coffee is reliably excellent, which matters in a small town. Expect a wait on weekend mornings during peak season; the room fills quickly and tables turn slowly because the food is worth lingering over. Ginger Baker is a better option for breakfast than most of the resort-oriented cafes that dominate the main strip.
