Bright is 320 km northeast of Melbourne, about 3.5 hours by car via the Hume Highway and then the Great Alpine Road. The drive through the Ovens Valley is scenic and well-signposted.
By bus: Dyson's Bus Lines runs daily services from Melbourne's Southern Cross Coach Terminal to Bright. Journey time is around 4 hours. The bus also connects Bright to Wangaratta, Myrtleford, and Harrietville.
By car: From Melbourne, take the Hume Highway (M31) to Wangaratta, then the Great Alpine Road (B500) southeast through Myrtleford to Bright. The road continues east to Harrietville and up to Mt Hotham.
There is no passenger train service to Bright — the Bright line closed in 1953.
