A wooden pier 300 metres long, dating from 1892 and one of the oldest surviving piers on Port Phillip Bay. The original cargo function is long gone; today the pier carries pedestrians out to a restaurant at the end and serves as a favourite spot for amateur fishermen.
Walking the pier at sunset is a Geelong ritual — the panoramic view back over the city and the bollards-lined promenade is at its best then. Free public access. The restaurant at the end takes reservations.
