Getting There

Mildura is remote by Victorian standards — roughly 550 km northwest of Melbourne — but well connected for its size. Rex Airlines flies direct from Melbourne and Sydney, and Mildura Airport sits just a few kilometres from the city centre. By road the most direct route from Melbourne is via the Western Highway and Sunraysia Highway, taking around five hours.

V/Line operates daily coach services from Melbourne (Southern Cross Station) with connections at Swan Hill or Bendigo. There is no passenger rail directly to Mildura, the line having closed to passengers decades ago. Crossing from New South Wales is easy — Buronga is immediately across the Murray River via the George Chaffey Bridge, and Wentworth is a short drive to the east.
