When to Go

Mildura has a hot, dry, semi-arid climate. Summers (December to February) are genuinely fierce — temperatures above 40°C are common, and the region regularly records some of the hottest days in Victoria. If you visit in summer, be prepared and start sightseeing early.

Spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) are the best times to visit. Autumn in particular coincides with the grape harvest, when the wineries are busy and the fruit farms are at their most productive. The Mildura Country Music Festival runs in August, drawing performers from across Australia. Winters are mild and sunny — rarely cold enough to deter outdoor activity — and the citrus harvest peaks through winter and spring.
