National Anzac Centre

One of the finest war museums in Australia, the National Anzac Centre sits on Mount Clarence above King George Sound — the very headland overlooking the anchorage where the Albany convoy assembled in October and November 1914, the largest fleet ever to leave Australian shores. The interactive exhibition follows 32 individual soldiers, nurses, and civilians from departure through the Gallipoli campaign and beyond, immersing visitors in personal stories rather than battlefield abstractions. The building's angular design is striking, and the views down to the sound from its terrace bring the weight of that departure into focus. Allow at least two hours.
