When to Go

Fiji's dry season (May–October) is the most comfortable time to visit Lautoka. Temperatures sit at 24–28°C, humidity is lower, and the Koroyanitu mountain trails are in their best condition. This is also when the sugar crushing season runs — the cane trains are active from June, and the smell of processing fills the town.

The wet season (November–April) brings heavy rainfall and occasional cyclones, though Lautoka's position on the western (leeward) side of Viti Levu means it receives less rain than the Suva side of the island. Flooding can affect the roads into the Koroyanitu range in heavy rain.
