Le Moana

One of the better mid-range options near Matira Beach, Le Moana serves fresh fish and Polynesian dishes in an open-sided dining room with direct lagoon views. The poisson cru — raw tuna marinated in lime juice and coconut milk — is consistently good, and the grilled mahi-mahi with vanilla sauce is a reliable order. Prices are high by international standards but reasonable for Bora Bora, where everything imported carries a steep premium.

The location near Matira makes it a natural stop for independent travellers staying in the guesthouses south of Vaitape. The terrace catches the afternoon breeze off the lagoon and the light at sunset is excellent. Reservations are recommended in peak season (July–August) when every table on the island fills by 7pm.
