The only international airport is Amata Kabua International Airport (MAJ) in Majuro. Getting here takes time and planning — there are no budget carriers, no short hops from a nearby hub.
United Airlines operates the "Island Hopper" service four times a week, connecting Honolulu and Guam with stops at Johnston Atoll, Majuro, Kwajalein, Pohnpei, Chuuk, and Guam. It is one of the few remaining true island-hopper routes in the Pacific and something of an experience in itself. Flying time from Honolulu is about five hours; from Guam, about eight.
Nauru Airlines connects Majuro with Brisbane via Nauru and Tarawa (Kiribati) once a week on Fridays. This is the main option from Australia.
There are no passenger ferries from other countries. Inter-island ships operate within the Marshalls, but none run to external destinations on any regular schedule.
A departure tax of $20 applies to international passengers aged 13 to 59.
