Akaroa has a handful of good cafes and restaurants concentrated on the main street and waterfront. The emphasis is on local seafood — the harbour produces excellent blue cod and salmon — with a few nods to the French heritage in the form of creperies and French-style patisseries. The town is small enough that the options are limited; come with realistic expectations and you will be happy.
