Nelson's drinking culture is heavily shaped by hops — the region grows most of New Zealand's hop crop and supplies brewers across the country, and several of those brewers have their own taprooms in town. The cafe scene is just as well developed, with most of the action concentrated within a few streets of Trafalgar Square.
