Iririki is the small green island that sits directly across the harbour from Port Vila — close enough to swim, though almost everyone takes the free shuttle ferry that runs every few minutes from the wharf opposite the Grand Hotel.
The island is taken up by a resort, but day visitors can use the beach, the swimming pool, and the bars and restaurants for the price of a drink. Sunset from the deck looking back at Port Vila is one of the simple pleasures of the city.
