The Cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur is Port Vila's main Catholic church and a leftover of the French half of the colonial Condominium. The pale stone façade is more provincial-French than tropical, sitting incongruously on a hill above the lagoon.
The interior is plain and cool. Sunday Mass in a mixture of French, Bislama and local languages is one of the easier windows onto local life if you happen to be in town for it.
