Fier itself is a functional town rather than a destination — the oil industry has shaped it more than tourism has. What it does offer is excellent access to two remarkable sites: the ancient Greek city of Apolonia and the hilltop Monastery of Ardenica. Both can be done as half-day excursions and together make a full day of archaeology and religious history.
