Vjosa Valley

The Vjosa river runs through the valley below Corrush, forming part of one of the last large wild rivers in Europe. The Vjosa flows unimpeded for nearly 300 kilometres from its source in Greece to the Adriatic coast, with no major dams along its Albanian stretch. In 2023 it was declared Albania's first National Park, largely in response to international pressure following proposed hydroelectric dam projects.

The valley floor around this section of the Vjosa is agricultural, with fruit orchards, olive groves, and small farms. Walking down from Corrush to the river takes around an hour and offers good views across the valley. The river is swimmable in summer in calmer sections, though the main channel can run fast.
