Getting Around

The town itself is compact and walkable — the promenade, market, and most restaurants are within 15 minutes of each other on foot.

Taxis are plentiful and inexpensive by Western standards. Fares are negotiable; agree a price before getting in. Shared minibuses (furgons) run from the bus station to Ksamil, Butrint, and up the coast toward Himara. For the Blue Eye, hiring a taxi for the round trip (about 25 km each way) is the most practical option.

Car hire is available in town and gives the most flexibility for exploring the coast and the interior. The roads to Butrint and the Blue Eye are paved; some beach access roads are rough gravel.

The Corfu ferry runs several times daily in summer from the port — a 45-minute crossing that connects Saranda to the Greek island ferry network.
