The MooserWirt is the most famous après-ski venue in the Alps, on the ski-back run from Galzig into St. Anton. Officially a mountain restaurant; in practice from about 3pm until 8pm it operates as a vast open-air disco, with a DJ pumping out Europop and a couple of thousand skiers in boots dancing on the tables.
It serves more beer in a season than most pubs do in a year. The catch — and it is a real one — is that you still have to ski the last 200 metres home down a steep, often icy piste at the end of it. Locals know to leave the MooserWirt either sober or in the snow groomer that comes through at 8pm.
