Kössen is in the northeast corner of Tyrol, close to the German border. The nearest large city is Rosenheim in Bavaria (about 40 km north). From Innsbruck the drive takes about 90 minutes via the Brenner Autobahn and then east through the Inn Valley.
By public transport, take a train to Kufstein and then a bus (line 4042 or 4044) up the valley to Kössen. The journey from Kufstein takes about 40 minutes. From Kitzbühel a bus connection runs via St. Johann in Tirol.
Reit im Winkl across the border in Germany is reachable by a short mountain road — follow signs for the Ursprungpass. Munich is about 90 minutes by car.
