The Brucknerhaus is Linz's main concert and events venue, a modernist building on the north bank of the Danube opened in 1974 and named after Anton Bruckner. The acoustic in the main hall is considered among the best in Austria for orchestral music. The Bruckner Orchester Linz, the city's resident symphony orchestra, performs its main season here.
The building also hosts the annual Brucknerfest, a music festival in September and October that culminates in the Klangwolke (Sound Cloud), a spectacular outdoor multimedia event on the Danube. The Klangwolke involves a live orchestra performing on a stage on the river, with projections and pyrotechnics, watched by audiences of tens of thousands on the riverbanks. It is one of the more unusual musical events in Central Europe and worth timing a visit around.
