Getting There

Linz is well connected by rail and sits on the main Westbahn line between Vienna and Salzburg. Direct trains from Vienna Hauptbahnhof take about 75 minutes on the faster services; from Salzburg about 70 minutes. This makes Linz easily combined with either city as a day trip or overnight stop. Trains to Munich and beyond run via Salzburg.

Linz Airport (LNZ) handles flights from a number of European destinations, mainly on Ryanair and Austrian. Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and London Stansted have regular connections. The airport is a few kilometres west of the city centre; buses connect it to the central station.

By car, the A1 motorway runs through the city. Linz is about 185 km from Vienna and 150 km from Salzburg.
