Ramsau's high plateau gets reliable snow from late November to April, and the village has built one of the largest cross-country trail networks in Austria — around 220 km of groomed loops in classic and skating styles. Many of them are flat or gently undulating, which makes Ramsau a friendly place to learn the sport.
The trails radiate from the village in all directions, with rest stops at small inns where you can warm up with goulash and a glass of Sturm. The Austrian national team trains here, but the atmosphere is welcoming rather than competitive.
