Gasthof Zur Post

Gasthof Zur Post is an old-fashioned Tyrolean inn in the centre of town, the kind of place where the Gröstl comes in a cast-iron pan and the schnapps arrives unasked at the end of the meal. The menu is a catalogue of local standards — Leberknödelsuppe (liver dumpling soup), braised beef with Semmelknödel (bread dumplings), and Apfelstrudel that tastes homemade because it is. Portions are large, prices are reasonable, and the dining room in winter, with its wooden panelling and tiled stove, is exactly what you came to the Alps for.

It is also one of the few places in town that stays open reliably outside peak season.
