The Stadtplatz and the streets running off it — Enge Gasse, Grünmarkt, and Pfarrgasse — are lined with small independent shops: jewellers, bookstores, clothes, and traditional Trachten outfitters. Look out for Steyrer Lebkuchen, the city's traditional spiced biscuit, sold by several bakeries.
For larger shops and chain stores, the Stadtplatz Galerie at the upper end of the square and the malls along the southern edge of the city handle the bulk of regular shopping.
