Getting Around

The old town is compact and entirely walkable — the main sights cluster within a 15-minute walk of each other along the river and the central square. The castles, the cathedral, the Kalozha Church, and the Great Synagogue can all be covered on foot without difficulty.

The zoo and some outlying parts of the city are best reached by trolleybus or taxi. Taxis are inexpensive by Western European standards. The city centre is dense enough that a car is more hindrance than help, and parking near the old town is limited.
