A tiny family bakery in the centre that has been on the same corner since 1884, four generations of the Goossens family. The shopfront is barely two metres wide and there is almost always a queue. The signature loaf is the raisin bread — heavy, slightly sweet, sold in chunks weighed at the counter. The sourdough is excellent, the chocolate bread is a Saturday treat.
Cash only. Closed Mondays. The wait can be twenty minutes in the morning but moves steadily. Pick up a paper bag for breakfast and walk three minutes to the Grote Markt for a coffee.
