Getting There

By train is the easiest way to reach Antwerp. The city's Central Station is one of the most beautiful in Europe and a major hub. Frequent trains run to Brussels (40 min), Bruges (90 min), Ghent (50 min), and Amsterdam (1 hr 10 min by Thalys). The Eurostar from London and Paris arrives via Brussels Midi with an easy connection.

By plane, Brussels Airport is the main option — about 45 minutes by direct train. The smaller Antwerp Airport (ANR) at Deurne handles a few short-haul connections, useful for trips to London City and the Mediterranean. Most international visitors use Brussels.

By car, Antwerp sits at the junction of the E19 (Amsterdam–Brussels) and the E17 (Lille–Ghent–Antwerp). Driving into the centre is best avoided — parking is expensive and the streets are restricted. Use the park-and-ride at Linkeroever or one of the perimeter car parks, then take a tram or walk in. The whole inner city is a low-emission zone.
