Antwerp's fashion museum, housed in a converted 19th-century warehouse in the heart of the fashion district. The permanent display traces the rise of Antwerp as a global fashion capital, focused on the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the so-called Antwerp Six (Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, Dirk Bikkembergs, Marina Yee) who broke through in 1986–88.
Temporary exhibitions are the museum's main draw — three or four major shows a year on subjects like surrealism in fashion, the work of individual designers, or material innovations. The fashion school itself is across the street; the bookshop carries an unusually serious range of fashion theory. Closed Mondays.
