Congress Column

Congress Column is a 47-metre monument to the Belgian Constitution and the National Congress that followed independence in 1830. Designed by Joseph Poelaert and inspired by Trajan's Column, it is topped by a statue of King Leopold I and ringed with figures representing constitutional freedoms.

The monument stands near the Royal District and is best visited as part of a walk between the cathedral, Parc de Bruxelles, and the upper town.
