Lier is 20 kilometres southeast of Antwerp and is served by regular train services from Antwerp-Centraal, with a journey time of about 20 minutes. Trains run every 30 minutes during the day. From Brussels you change at Antwerp or Mechelen; the total journey takes around an hour.
By car from Antwerp, take the E313 motorway east and exit at Lier. The town has parking at the edge of the old centre. Lier also makes a natural stop on a day trip circuit connecting Antwerp, Mechelen, and Leuven — all of which are within 30 kilometres.
