Maagdendale Monastery is a former Cistercian convent close to Oudenaarde's centre, with surviving historic buildings that show another side of the town beyond the market square and cycling lore. Its brick ranges and enclosed spaces retain the quiet geometry of a religious complex.
The site is best folded into a heritage walk through Oudenaarde. It does not compete with the flamboyant town hall, but it adds depth: a reminder that the town's history was shaped by religious institutions as well as trade, tapestry, and the Scheldt.
