Border Brasseries

Near the bridge into Wervicq-Sud, a couple of brasseries have built a small trade on cross-border visitors — Belgians crossing into France for the afternoon, French crossing into Belgium for the beer. The menus blend both sides of the border: moules-frites is always on, the bread is French, and the beer list is Belgian. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried in the way that border towns often are, as though neither side is quite in a hurry to get anywhere. A good choice for a long lunch if you want something slightly different from the town centre options.
