By train, Wervik is about 20 minutes from Kortrijk on the line to Poperinghe; from Ghent, change at Kortrijk, making the total journey around an hour. By car, Ypres is roughly 15km to the east, Kortrijk 20km to the north, Lille (France) about 20km to the southwest, and Bruges around 50km to the northwest. There is no airport in Wervik; the nearest international airports are Brussels Airport (around 100km) and Lille-Lesquin just across the border in France. Cyclists approaching on the LF5a/La Lys route arrive along the river from either direction.
