Eating Out

Zottegem has the usual range of small Belgian-town restaurants — a few brasseries, a couple of frituren, a pizza place, and one or two ambitious modern kitchens. Most cluster around the central Markt and Heldenlaan.

For cycling visitors, the cafes along the main square serve good plates of stoofvlees (beef stewed in beer), waterzooi, and a generous local ham. The Friday market on the central square is the place to buy local cheese, sausage, and bread.
