Hisarya's Archaeological Museum is a practical first stop before walking the ruins. The town's layers are old: prehistoric settlement, Thracian presence, Roman rebuilding, Byzantine and Bulgarian periods. Seeing finds from those periods helps the wall circuit feel less anonymous.
Do not expect a large national museum. Its value is local focus. After a short visit, the gates, baths, and tomb outside have more context.
