Roman Thermae

Ruined Roman baths inside the old walls, linking Hisarya's spa culture to its ancient city.

The Roman Thermae are the clearest link between Hisarya's ancient and modern identities. Romans came for the same reason visitors still come: warm mineral water rising at the edge of the Thracian plain.

The ruins are substantial enough to read as baths rather than just low foundations. They work best after you have walked the walls, when the old city starts to make sense as a complete place of gates, streets, water, and public buildings.
