Sozopol is 35 kilometres south of Burgas. The nearest airport is Burgas (BOJ), with seasonal connections from across Europe in summer and a year-round service to Sofia. From the airport, a taxi to Sozopol runs about 40 lev (€20). The number 6 bus runs from Burgas central station to Sozopol roughly every 30 minutes in season; the trip takes about 50 minutes.
By car from Sofia, the drive across the country is around 380 kilometres on the A1 and A6 motorways and takes four and a half hours. The route from Istanbul, around 410 kilometres up the Black Sea coast, takes about five hours including the border crossing.
There is no rail service to Sozopol. From Burgas, buses and minibuses run all day in summer.
