St Helier town centre is compact and best explored on foot — you can walk from the Central Market to the Old Harbour in ten minutes, and from the harbour to Royal Square in five. The main shopping streets are pedestrianised, which makes wandering easy.
For the rest of Jersey, the island's bus network (Liberty Bus) covers all the main destinations from St Helier's bus terminus on Weighbridge Place. Services are frequent in summer and reasonable year-round. A taxi from St Helier to any point on the island will set you back £15–30. Hiring a bicycle is a pleasant way to explore the quieter lanes; several rental outfits operate near the harbour. Driving is also easy — Jersey's roads are good and the island is small enough that nowhere is more than 20 minutes from town.
