Komiža Waterfront

The waterfront at Komiža runs along the inner curve of a natural harbour, with fishing boats moored at one end and the evening passeggiata moving back and forth along the palm-lined promenade. The buildings facing the water are mostly 18th and 19th-century Dalmatian stone, low and horizontal, punctuated by a handful of outdoor cafe tables that fill up reliably in warm weather.

This is where Komiža life happens. Mornings the fishermen are sorting their catch; late afternoon the cafes fill; after dark the restaurants are busy and the promenade stays animated well past midnight in summer. There is nothing to do here except sit and watch, which turns out to be enough.
