The most important monument in Porec and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Built in the first half of the 6th century under Bishop Euphrasius, the basilica is famous for its stunning Byzantine mosaics in the apse, which depict the Virgin Mary, Christ, and saints against shimmering gold backgrounds. The complex includes an atrium, baptistery, and bell tower that you can climb for panoramic views over the old town and the coast.
