Porec's coast runs for around 30 kilometres of pebble coves, concrete bathing platforms, and longer crescent beaches in the resort areas. Sand beaches do not really exist in Istria — limestone karst dissolves into pebbles rather than sand — but the water is bright and clear, and most beaches are family-friendly with the gradient gentle enough for non-swimmers.
The main resort beaches are at Zelena Laguna and Plava Laguna to the south, both reachable on foot, by tourist train or by water taxi. Sveti Nikola island just offshore offers wooded paths to quieter rock pools. The town beaches inside the harbour are pleasant for a quick swim but get crowded.
For something wilder, drive 15 minutes south to the wooded Cervar Porat peninsula or 20 minutes north to the small inlet at Lanterna, where rocky points give way to the open Adriatic.
