Marafor Square

Ancient Roman forum with remains of Mars and Neptune temples

The oldest square in Porec, at the western tip of the peninsula. Its name comes from "Mars" and "forum" -- this was the Roman public square, and you can still see fragments of ancient pavement. The remains of two Roman temples, dedicated to Mars and Neptune, stand at the edges. The square is considerably smaller than it was in antiquity, but it remains a pleasant spot with views out to the islands.
