Banj is Šibenik's main town beach, a long pebble strip across the harbour from the old town with the best skyline view in the city — the cathedral, the fortresses and the medieval roofs lined up along the opposite shore. The water is clean, the pebbles are graded fine, and there is a paved promenade with cafés and a small beach bar.
You can walk here from the centre in about twenty minutes, or take a short ferry across the harbour in summer. It is busy in July and August but not the kind of overcrowded scrum you get at island beaches. Bring water shoes — Croatian pebble means Croatian pebble.
