Šibenik concentrates an unusual number of fortresses, a UNESCO-listed cathedral and a tangle of medieval lanes into a town you can walk across in twenty minutes. Two days is enough to see it properly; one is enough to hit the highlights. The cathedral, St Michael's Fortress and a meal on the waterfront are the irreducible minimum.
