Croatia's first cat café opened in 2018 in the Lower Town as a hybrid coffee shop and adoption centre for rescued shelter cats. The space is divided between a normal café front and a back room where about a dozen cats roam freely; visitors can sit among them with a coffee, and several have been adopted by visitors over the years.
Hygiene rules apply (hand sanitiser at the door, food kept separate from the cat zone) and time slots are sometimes limited at busy weekends. Coffee and cakes are good, prices reasonable, and a percentage of takings goes to the local shelter network. Closed Tuesdays.
