Český Krumlov has a drinking culture that reflects both its Czech identity and its position as a tourist town. The local Eggenberg brewery has been producing beer within the castle precinct since the 1560s and its pubs are the obvious starting point. Czech pub culture is central here — order a half-litre of lager, take a seat at a shared table, and let the evening go slowly.
Beyond the pubs, the old town has a scattering of wine bars, cellar cafes, and riverside spots suited to a quieter drink. The streets empty considerably after the day-tripper buses leave in the late afternoon, and that is when the bars and cafes come into their own.
