The local brewery sits inside the castle precinct and has been making beer here since the 1560s — one of the oldest in Bohemia. Eggenberg lager is what you will be drinking in most of the town's pubs and restaurants whether you order it by name or not. The brewery itself runs tours, and the attached pub is the best place to drink the beer as fresh as it gets.
The unfiltered wheat beer (weizenbier) is particularly good if it is on tap. The brewery tour includes the cellars and gives a sense of how beer production has worked in this spot for nearly five centuries.
A proper Czech pub experience in an exceptional setting.
