Regional Museum of Náchod

The small regional museum is housed in a Renaissance burgher house on Masaryk Square. The permanent exhibitions cover the geology and natural history of the Náchod region, the medieval and early-modern history of the town, and a collection on the writer Josef Škvorecký, who grew up here and turned Náchod (lightly disguised as "Kostelec") into the setting of his best-known novels.

Open Tuesday to Sunday, with shorter winter hours. Entry is cheap and English captions are limited; the Škvorecký room has a small selection of his books translated into English.
