The Jewish Museum is actually a distributed complex of synagogues, the Old Jewish Cemetery, and the ceremonial hall in Josefov, the old Jewish quarter of Prague. The combined ticket covers six sites including the 13th-century Old-New Synagogue (still active, the oldest working synagogue in Europe), the Spanish Synagogue, and the cemetery — a remarkable mass of stacked gravestones, some going back to 1439. The irony is bitter: these survived intact because the Nazis collected Jewish artefacts here for a planned "museum of an extinct race." Allow half a day.
