Pančava Waterfall

Pančava is the highest waterfall in the Czech Republic, dropping 148 metres from the edge of the Krkonoše plateau into the Obří důl valley. It is most dramatic in spring when snowmelt sends it into full spate, but even in summer a respectable flow cascades down the rocky face. In winter, the falls partially freeze into a curtain of ice visible from the valley below.

The waterfall is reached by a hiking trail from Špindlerův Mlýn that ascends through the forest into the Obří důl valley — a pleasant walk of about 90 minutes each way, passing through some of the wildest terrain close to the resort. The trail continues up to the plateau, where you can link to other routes including the main ridge path toward Sněžka.
